Known as SLE in short, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is a condition under which the defence mechanism of the body starts acting against own body cells and hence starts causing damage to various body parts and organs. There is inflammation as well as damage caused to the various parts and organs of the body such as skin, kidney, joints, heart, eyes, digestive system and the nervous system.
Due to occurrence of SLE, immune complexes are also formed which in turn lead to harm to the body due to their attachment with the chemicals present in the body. Systemic Lupus Erythematosus may be triggered due to genetic factors and use of certain drugs or medicines that may result in adverse reactions of the same. Even some environmental factors may also be responsible for causing this condition.
