Plaque, i.e. the scar tissue is responsible for the Peyronie’s Disease that usually results in difficulty in sexual intercourse and bending of the penis. Trauma, i.e. hitting or bending leading to localized bleeding inside the penis is also responsible for this disease. It may pass on from parents to their children.
Xiaflex, the unique medication has since been approved by the FDA to treat the patients. The scar tissue is broken down. Usually two injections of this drug are injected. Penis may be straightened with surgery too. It involves removal of the plaque. The tissue from the side of the penis opposite the plaque is removed. Ill effects of the disease are eliminated. Vitamin therapy and other approaches may also give sufficient relief.
